Favourite Movies from 1999
There were a couple movies released last year which I haven't yet seen, so don't berate me if I change this later.
Perhaps a little late, but everyone else is making 10-item lists of the movies they liked best from last year. I don't know if I'll get all the way to ten movies, but here goes, in the haphazard order I recalled them:
1. The Limey -- Excellent editing and a great script bring this rather hashed-over story to life.
2. Being John Malcovich -- Excellent and very original screenplay, along with some fine acting by John Cusack and John Malcovich (duh) make for quite a great movie.
3. The Interview -- A great Australian crime drama/thriller.
4. Rushmore -- Another surprise. Bill Murray (go see Groundhog Day if you haven't) is really good in this, along with an excellent script and really great lead acting by Jason Schwartzman.
5. Magnolia, not yet reviewed but I'll get aroundto it soon. [imdb].
6. Man On The Moon -- Even if you don't like Andy Kaufman (and I must admit everything I know about him is from this movie), this is quite a well-constructed movie about him.
7. Toy Story 2 -- Pixar out-does the wonderful Toy Story with an excellent sequel. Great for all ages.
8. American Beauty -- Great cast and a great story.
9. The Sixth Sense -- Haley Osment (the kid) really deserves an Oscar for his performance in this. Quite a surprising movie (as in, I was expecting another typical Bruce Willis movie but got quite an excellent film).
