US spends half of WORLD military budget

Of the almost $1 trillion the world spends on their militaries, the US spends nearly half of that (47%, to be precise) not including spending on nuclear weapons (technically the department of energy).

This also doesn't count the spending on the Afghanistan or Iraqi wars, as those were funded by "supplementary spending" bills.

In addition, the United States has long had a history of black budget military spending which is not listed as Federal spending and is not included in published military spending figures. Thus, the true amount spent by the United States on military spending is much higher than the figures maintained in the Federal Budget.
