US to shoot down own spy satellite
All satellites' orbits decay. They will all eventually crash into Earth (even the moon, although that's a ways away). Knowing this, the US secretly launched a spy satellite whose "rocket fuel could turn into a deadly toxic gas if the spacecraft crashed in a populated area".
Awesome.
So now they get to test out their anti-satellite missile systems and add an assload of space-garbage to the already metric-shitload that's there (NASA tracks 110,000 bits bigger than a centimeter which could potentially kill astronauts or Hubble (et at)).
